Statistical Analyzer:

Loyola is overshadowed by the heavy hitters in town (Northwestern, DePaul, U of C), but it's a good, no nonsense university. It's run by the Jesuits, who do not brook the kind of foolishness that gets Northwestern into the news. When I went here, it was known for being one of the few schools in the country that was consistently in the black. Loyola now owns much of Rogers Park.

Loyola used to be primarily a commuter school, but it has concentrated on attracting out of state students for the past 25 years. Because it's a smaller school, students actually get a better education than at a lot of other place. When I was a student, I never had a TA as a primary teacher. Actually, I only had one TA over four years, and that was in a large psychology class. On the other hand, when I went to grad school, at a larger university, undergrads were lucky to see a full professor, especially in their first two years.
