I have attended two online Universities. First, University of Phoenix and then AIU. American InterContinental University is a very good program. Not only did I have an opportunity for asynchronous classes at my own schedule, but class lectures were given synchronously with live class discussion boards. Can't make it? No problem. They were recorded and you can download when convenient. Online universities are much tougher than traditional colleges. There is more reading and writing that is needed to be done and you don't have access to the instructor on a daily basis via face to face to feed you the answers. It definitely incorporates Bloom's Taxonomy Teaching Model which means you have to work hard! Know that up front and you will be mentally prepared. I am glad for that otherwise my degree would have no value in the market which many students do not understand when they compare to other University's traditional or e-Learning programs who simply hands out an A as long as you pay for the course. I never experienced any negative tactics in marketing or admissions. Did they ask if I wanted to do additional minors, etc. Yes, but I declined and that was the end. Any online program is expensive because you are paying for the convenience and the technology. I have recommended this University to many professionals who have all had positive experiences as well and many have been promoted or received increases and other incentives upon completion. In my opinion, this is a very good University.
