Statistical Analyzer:

I am a transfer student from a community college in Virginia. And with my 3.5 GPA getting into the school that only required a 3.0 was a breeze. The application was the easiest I have seen in my life. Maybe even easier then a community college; very simple. The positives of the school is its location. Hawaii is sweet. Its laid back atmosphere, maybe too laid back educationally. This means you do not want to go to a college and hang out with your crazy homies on the block. But if you are looking to excel in honors, honor programs and beat everyone else this place will work with you. Anyone can make a lot of friends here, even if you are white. I dont happen to be white (black and a little native american, about as native as the native hawaiins here-hint) but from observation and whatever, white people can get along fine. Housing is ok and jobs on campus are readily available. Truth is, if one is open to new friendships and exploration of a program they will be very very satisfied. Ok, the positives are over whew… that was a lot. The negatives are pretty known. The reguraly known list - housing is wearing down, out of state tuition is expensive, anybody can be called a haole, especially whites (get ready for some foriegn butt kissing), the schools are not top notched (with a few exceptions), airplane travel back and forth from states is killer (get ready to settle down in hawaii, aloha), and lastly and my most favorite financial aid is an hastle. Fill out the form before due date because your funds will be cancelled - lameo. You should know that this university is what you make of it. Relax and have some good times with friends when appropriate. And study whatever you want with a passion. You can still graduate with honors, get an internship, have an excellent career postion after college and get accepted into an Ivy League College.
