I experienced some culture shock at first and really didn't like the city of Pittsburg. But after making some really good friends and getting into my degree program, I know I will never regret my decision. At PSU, I really know my professors, and I feel that they care about my academic success and my life. I still encounter the stereotypical closeminded Kansan from time to time, but I believe that is more than balanced out by the quality of education I am getting here. My only serious complaint has to do with the Gen Ed requirements. How useful is it to require me to go on what are essentially guided tours of the Tech Center when I have no interest in a career in technology? Or to take an intro-level class in Microsoft Office 2003 when I am already using Office to its fullest functionality as a Tech Writing major? I understand the desire for a well-rounded individual, but some of these Gen Ed requirements are pretty ridiculous. |
