How wrong i was. The pretty campus and stone buildings charmed me and at first i was happy. Until i realized that i failed to take into account my major at carroll. I was an art education major and 3 art classes and 1 semester later i had not met a even one other student who had the same major. everyone was either pt or nursing. In my draawing class i was THE ONLY student to have ever taken an art class before… wha-wha-whaaat???? I expected a college art course to be a challenging competitive atmosphere… it was the easiest most mindless class of my life. without really trying i got an A+ on every single project. simply because i was the oonly one who had the faintest idea how to draw. i basically slept walked through all my classes and still made it on the deans list. the botom line is, DO NOT COME TO CARROLL AS AN ART MAJOR, or if you intednd on being acedemically challenged at all. the social life was a complete bore. the campus is in an all residential area, if you dont have a car… plan on being utterly bored 99% of the time. there was little to no diversity and overall the college made pathetic attempts to engage students. (most of which were commuters) "stay on saturdays" had to be implemented in order to enchourage students to stay on the weekend… basically it didnt work, carroll always has and always will be a commuter school. there were some plusses, the dorms were nice (specifically kilgour) and i hear they are building a new apartment style dorm… its a good school if your are interested in PT. that or you plan on commuting or just cant let go of high school. |
