North Adams can be boring as far at night-life goes, but it is a stunningly beautiful area and there is plenty to do if you have an interest in the outdoors. My experience with the Education department was a love/hate relationship. There were a few professors who were wonderful and inspiring and some who where dull and rather clueless. Most faculty is friendly and willing to help, but you need to be sure of your goals and be willing to do a certain amount of advocating for yourself. Socially, I had a great time at MCLA. I made great friends and had plenty of opportunity for fun. There are sports and clubs to meet most everyone's interest and if you dont find anything you like, the idea of creating one from scratch is within your reach. The housing situation at MCLA is the best that I have seen amongst all my friends who attended different colleges. For most, you spend your first year in a dorm and the remainder of your years in a townhouse with your choice of housemates. This is a great deal and lots of fun. Overall, there were times when I was frustrated with things at MCLA, but I can't imagine having gone anywhere else and I would go back if I had the chance! |
