I never considered it academic-lite, but that's not far from an accurate description. This is the right school for the student who isn't up to the rigor of a more competitive college or university. For the most part, the students peform well but it's all relative to the rigor of the program. I'm bored and feel I took a step back academically since high school. At this point my plan is to stay and graduate, mainly because I can afford the tuition, and pick up some post graduate course work from another college. There is no real social aspect to the school and what there is, is kinda lame. The sports teams are on par with larger university intramural level teams and not really worth going to see. You really, really, really need a car. There is nothing to do on campus and you will go out of your mind if don't have access to a car. If I lived local and commuted to Elon, I would be able to manage the social difficiencies, but unfortunately I'm stuck with limited opportunities to break-up the boredom. This could be the perfect college for a person who has lower expectations than I. My advice is to visit during in-session to see if it's a good fit for you. |
