I transferred into Arcadia (which at the time was Beaver College) in my Junior year. I had previously attended a Junior College and before that an all girls boarding school. Arcadia was like prep school all over again and since I'd already been there and done it…I found it very boring. Making friends was near impossible since I didn't have much in common with the majority of students. As someone else mentioned..there is NO campus life. Not to mention a suitcase school where everyone tended to disappear on weekends. Although Beaver College at the time had a good reputation, it didn't help me or prepare me for any jobs in the real world. However, one hopes things have changed since 1980.If you've been to prep (boarding) school..I suggest you look elsewhere. Otherwise, expect four more years of cliques on a small campus with nothing to do. If you have a car, you'll be a tad better off. Basically I did my time and got my degree! My oldest goes to PACE University in the city and my youngest is applying anywhere but Arcadia University, simply because it wasn't a particularly good experience. I wan my kids to have more then I did! |
