Statistical Analyzer:

I would recommend the University of Minnesota if you are self-motivated. This is not a school that one should attend if they need a lot of personal attention and/or instructors to hold you accountable to completing your work and attending class. If you are enrolled in math or the sciences fully expect to have a TA and/or instructor that is challenging to understand due to a language barrier. It was also my experience that despite the language barrier, once you were able to understand the instructor they were fabulous at what they taught. I found my foreign TAs to care far more than my native TAs and also were much more accessible. The main point is… if you need help you will have to seek it out.

The advising is terrible. If you are willing to do the research on the University's website about your field of study and the requirements for that major you will be okay. Every semester I was here I left the adviser's office in tears because I was so frustrated. If you know exactly what you want to do and how to get there you should have no problem.

The campus is very diverse in student body and faculty. There is truly something for everyone, again if you are self-motivated and seek out the available opportunities. The surrounding area is beautiful and Minneapolis has a lot to do ranging from art museums, theaters, concert halls, bars, night clubs, sports, etc… The weather in the winter is terrible. For the most part, the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis in general is a fairly liberal campus and city.
