I still believe this can be done, just not at this school. First, the Positives:The campus is amazing. Lots of trees, ponds, clean air, wildlife (ducks, squirrels, turtles, etc). There is a good amount of food available on campus, coffee and snacks. The campus is also quite clean, and there are bikes everywhere, it's a very easy school/city to move around in on a bike. The city itself is mellow, with not too much to do, but the beach is close, SF is close and so on. Now, the negatives…It's next to impossible to get into the classes you need, if they are even offering it that semester. They are dropping classes, and part time profs next semester. So painting for example is being taught now, by a teacher that doesn't paint. They are very close-minded when it comes to style, even though they sa they are open about it. If you don't the 5-6 artists they believe in, then you will not do well. Art wise, they are stuck in an era that is passed, and have no intention of accepting the newer stuff. The students are uneducated about what is out there in the art world, they are tired, snooty, judgmental and really have no idea what they are heading towards. |
