My dad went to Drake and had only nice perceptions of Creighton. I was from far away and had no idea of what the midwest was like. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, I did join a frat and it expanded my ability to socialize and even helped me win a student government office. I've made friends from all over the US (since many do come from all over). Most importantly, CU helped me realize my dream of becoming a doctor. I was not the best student and I didn't get in the first time. But with perserverance and hard work, I was able to squeek by their admissions criteria. Now I have a wonderful practice and my children also chose to go to Creighton when they could have gone anywhere else in this country (valedectorian and good SAT's). And they were raised in California. You make your college experience what it is. I made the most of mine and only have fond memories of CU. I donate generously to the school that helped me fulfill my dream and my experience there almost made me decide to stay in the midwest (which I'm glad I didn't now). Midwesterners are honest, hardworking people. Their values and ethics are much better than what you find on the coasts. I'm very happy my children chose CU… I just hope it helps them get to where they want to in life. |
