Statistical Analyzer:

I am an Economics Major at UMM. It is a great school with most classes being challenging, but fair (especially once you get out of intro-level coursework). Certain majors are less challenging than others, but overall I have a favorable opinion of the coursework here.

There are a lot of quirky people here, as with any school, but the majority of students are down-to-earth, regular people.

There is a lot of activism about green technologies etc (UMM has a wind turbine and a biomass plant!). The campus is nice, save a couple of older buildings that could use renovation. Most dorms aren't beautiful, but they serve their purpose.

The town is small, but generically has everything you need to survive (including 2 grocery stores, a beloved greasy spoon cafe, several fast food restaurants, and a co-op). The only problem with the town is that there aren't a lot of 24-hour joints around, so if you're hungry at midnight, expect to feed yourself.

I've had a really good experience at UMM, but as with any other college experience, it really is what you make of it. If you know how to learn, and be creative, and make your own fun, you'll be fine. If you're dependent on everyone else to create fun for you and teach you everything you need to know, this isn't the school for you.

And, yes. There is an ok party scene if you're into that. If you don't know where the parties are then you're not trying hard enough.
