If your definition of entertainment involves cow tipping and walmart runs, this is the place for you. In all seriousness, there really isn't much to do unless you are into partying every night. I mean I know it is college and partying is a big part of that, but over half of the school is completely wasted seven nights a week. The drug scene is also pretty big too. Castleton even has a hookah club. Besides partying, there isn't really much to do. The grand ol' city of Rutland is only about 12 miles away, but there is nothing really there despite the fact that it is the second biggest city in Vermont.

Even though the school claims to be a residential campus, over 60% of the student body lives off campus and commutes, and out of the 40% of students who do live on campus, about 90% of them go home on weekends. The campus is a freaking ghost town on the weekends.
Academically the school is okay, but half of the students at the college barely passed high school, sliding through the cracks with 1-1.5 gpa's. Because of this classes are often empty seeing that most kids skip class. There are about 30 to 40 kids on the class roster in most of my classes, but on a given day, there are usually only 10-15 kids in class. The quality of professors vary, but unfortunately, most of the professors are part time; therefore, they aren't available for extra help.

The campus condition is marginal at best. Before attending, I was told by peers and teachers that Castleton was a beautiful campus, but honestly, I don't know what they were looking at. Most of the campus is filled with asphalt parking lots and blue emergency buttons. Not that I am complaining about the emergency buttons seeing that campus safety has been seriously lacking the last few years, with multiple break ins and sexual assaults. The condition of the academic and residential buildings vary. There are some new, clean buildings, but there are also a fair amount of rundown buildings. The school has invested some money in campus improvements, but most of the money is going to an uneeded football stadium.

Overall, the college is okay. If you put some effort in, you'll end up with a degree. On a positive note, Tuition is a steal compared to many of today's universities, but if you are willing to put a little more money in, you can probably receive a much better college education/ experience somewhere else.
