I had a choice between Newark and New Brunswick and I chose Newark. I came from a different country and had heard good things about Newark, but I was completely shocked. The campus is the worst you will ever see! One of my friends who works for the school got mugged once. Also, there is a huge difference between Newark and New Brunswick. If you think its about the social life then you are missing the point. The courses at New Brunswick are much better. Newark is a crappy campus placed strategically by Rutgers so that they can send not so bright students to Newark. This way New Brunswick can maintain its ranking and Rutgers won't lose out on its funds. The career services at Newark sucks. New Brunswick is much better. Employers think they are one and the same and so do not list jobs under Newark career services. There is a lot of politics between the two schools and the head of career services hate each other and because of their egos innocent students like us suffer! No scholarships for international students! I have a perfect gpa and I have never received any scholarships! Another thing is that Newark students have to pay to watch Rutgers football games because apparently Newark has another football team..never heard of! Another way for Rutgers to make more money. Academic councilors suck! Do not go to them!! They put you in all wrong classes so that they can delay your graduation! I love some of my professors though who are passionate about their field. That is the only positive I think I can tell about this school! So, please do not make the same mistake that I did and go to New Brunswick..unless you are an accounting major. Accounting rocks at Newark because of professor Sanella..who has taken accounting at Newark to great heights. Hope this helps you with your decision. Good luck and take it easy!
