Security consists of +/- 2 "officers". One officer I knew got fired for smoking dope with a fellow Criminal Justice student. Student Activities: Except for the few sports they offer, the college does not have much to do. Many students drive 2+ hours to Providence, Rhode Island to go to nightclubs. Drugs, alcohol and sex are the big three recreational activities here that was an overriding theme throughout my time here. Guaranteed to lose your virginity within 6 months. Safety: A lot of times I would see rediculous things like feces in the urinal and the toilets having their doors and seats ripped off…some sort of joke I guess. The bulletin board got caught on fire one time by a drunk student…that sucked. One girl I knew got raped here. Used to get beer bottles smashed in the hallways, urination down the stairwells—would call campus safety but they would not respond until much later (if at all). The resident assistants are useless and without leadership. Even though, and sometimes BECAUSE it is a bit rural, you get an environment that is not always the most reassuring. You will pay for any damage that is not pinned on one particular person, as will everyone else on that residence hall.Staff: Got accused one time of doign something I didn't, all because I shared a first name with the perpetrator. When everything got straightened out, the accusing dean of the college never apologized. This really PO-ed me. Faculty: They flee the building after classes, good luck getting help after lecture. Plenaries exist and are difficult to follow. Students: Generally not too bright students go here, but their parents can afford to send them. Therefore it is a school for unmotivated, under-achieving rich kids. Religion: Instituted in everyone's mandatory general education requirements. Good luck with these!Retention: 100% of my friends left this place, and at least 35% of all classmates in my graduating class. About as many teachers left as well. |
