Personally I am enjoying my college experience. Upon entering Butler, you will be told that Greek life is only about a third of the student population, but that number is on the rise and Greek life has a strong presence on campus. You will find events hosted by Greek houses every weekend in the fall and spring on Schwitzer lawn. Being that Butler is a smaller school, Greek life doesn't have to take on the stereotypes that the media and big "party" schools create. The animosity between houses isn't as high and not every member of Greek life is getting wasted every day of the week. Some people party Thursdays, but it is taken as more of an option not a requirement here. Butler is more about groups of friends partying together where things can get crazy and out of control at times, rather than crazy parties that the whole campus attends.

As far as athletics are concerned, football is second rate and is given very little attention. Homecoming is much more about partying and Greek competitions than the football, by a very large gap. Basketball is given a lot more recognition and a much better following however. The nice thing about Butler being small but still Division 1 athletics is that you actually know and see the athletes around campus. They aren't idolized but instead are apart of the student body.

Academics here are good with small class sizes and professors who know your name. There is not a single TA. Some of the classes and professors range in difficulty and quality but overall it hasn't been a bad experience. Butler is all about hands on experiences, getting students in internships and out of the classroom and into their field as soon as their freshman year. Education majors start observation hours their first semester. Butler also has good contacts and opportunities for more students. The networking seminars rarely fill to capacity because there appear to be more opportunities than students taking advantage of them. Its small size has its benefits.

Some of the buildings are quite old and show their age, however they are not dirty by any means. The dorms are not tiny like you would find at a typical state school which is nice. Beds can be unbunked with PLENTY of living space. In the freshman women's dorm, the closets are walk-in closets with room for a whole dresser inside. Most classrooms have built in projectors and computers, however, and are properly equipped with technology. Almost all of campus is wireless for internet access at this point and there are computer labs everywhere with free printing.

Basically, college, no matter where you go, is what you make of it.
