I started in the health care administration feild in october 2008 and didnt care for it at all, the teachers and program leaders gave busy work and didnt even grade it, half of it wasnt even close to what i was going to school for. I was told through the HCA program i would be able to do coding/billing/insurance claims etc but when i apply at places all they say im qualified for is appointment making and front office work. SJVC has also stated that they help 9 our of 10 people find jobs in their selected feild, i keep in touch with 100% of the people who were in the same program i was in at the same time and SJVC has helped none of them find jobs, some are still at the same positions they were at prior to going to school at SJVC, through the externship a lot of times they like to hire the students who work there, again 90% of my class no one even did any work there and would sit around for hours out of the day because there was no need for them there. Towards my last month of classes i was placed in classes i had already taken, by the time i got my counselor to realize i had already taken and passed those classes she had told me it was too late to put me in classes i did need and i would have to take at least 5 weeks off, she also informed me i had recieved my health care certificate but couldnt start my AS degree classes because they had already started, i got upset and said it wasnt my fault i was placed in these classes and no one believed me the first day i told them about it so why am i being punished for it, she later said that that kind of attitude would not be taken in her school and that i had no one but myself to blame for this mix-up i got off the phone with her, a day later i called and spoke to the dean she told me i would have to take the 5 weeks off and deal with my graduation date being pushed back by 5 weeks and there was nothing she was going to do and if i didnt like it she would un-enroll me right then and there, well i didnt take it lying down and told her i wanted to file a complaint against my counselor. A week later i got a phone call that i was being terminated from the school with only my certificate and wouldnt be welcomed back for my AS degree. In a sense im glad i dont have to go back but im not one to give up something i started, they also dropped my tuition and now i dont have to pay anything back because of their mistake... also for the fact i got my lawyer involved in it and they shut up right away. In all honestly its a bunch of games to these people and they think they can win at anything because no one will speak up since they are a private school. I think everyone should know that you are paying for your schooling you should get what you paid for and if you do decide to go to SJVC dont think its going to be a walk in the park dealing with these money hungry people.
