If I would have chosen a school based on architectural beauty, I wouldn't have chosen BGSU. Campus is pretty during the late spring, summer, and early fall though because of the plants and trees. Most of the teachers are kind and very knowledgeable in their field. In my department (history) there are several professors who graduated from Ivy League universities. Everyone's classes vary, but for the most part, the assignment are useful and not simply 'busy work'. We're graded mostly on tests, quizzes, papers, and attendance; not on homework. You have to be self motivated and take it upon yourself to do the reading and homework so you may do well on the tests. The dorms are sort of annoying because they treat you like children. They constantly lecture you on the dangers of drinking, if you come in after midnight then you have to check in, and there are always silly pictures painted on the windows that make us feel like we are in fifth grade again. Bowling Green has a few nice new bars that are 21 and up so once you reach that point, there are actually are fun events to attend. The cost of living in Bowling Green is very affordable in terms of rent and utilities, this helps to make up for the expensive tuition. It's not the best school out there, but it's certainly not the worst. It is what you make it. |
