I attended EKU from 2001 to 2005 and graduate May of that year. I came from Ohio, so I was an out of state student desperately seeking to get away from my hometown and learn something new about somewhere I knew little to none about. To begin with and didn't know one person my first day and was quite nervous. I ended up making a small group of friends who were a lot like me, sick of high school, new place, like to chill and have a good time, but also get A's and B's in school. I found the overall workload very tolerable and challanging. The campus itself is gorgeous, and is very safe. Unfortunately, a large crowd of students that EKU draws from rural counties often go home on the weekends, often for no apparent reason. I was very anti-frat so I didn't want to pay money just to find out about parties. I got myself a good fake ID in Washington D.C. and found my way into the Richmond bars. I managed to find a good time, as well as balance everything out with my school work to finish with 3.4 gpa, and get myself into graduate school elsewhere. My biggest complaints about EKU overall were the kids who went home every weekend for no reason, the lack of entertainment in Richmond (literally, it's like winding your watch back 20 years), and the fun-hating Richmond Police Dept. I had some of the sickest halloween parties every year I was there at my house and every year, sure enough, by 10pm, I had half the city cops, a few campus cops, a few state cops (their office is also located on campus), and usually the paramedics outside my house looking to slap me with a fine. Oh well, all's well that ends well, right?
