I believe myself to be a fairly intelligent person, but in retrospect I don't think that a four year degree was the right choice for me. I'm currently going back to school for nursing, and while my bachelors degree will serve me well, at the same time I can't help but think that it was the wrong choice at the time. Students should evaluate all of their skills and interests before allowing themselves to be swept up into the "next step" mind set where we are conditioned to believe that after high school the "smart" kids go to college, and the "not so smart" go to community college or tech schools. Reflecting on my current situation, I wish I had considered a tech school or community college the first time around. It's a viable option that should be thoughfully considered. |
