If you're attitude is too much about playing, you will not be around long. Recommend that 1st and 2nd year students stay in a dorm so that you can be immersed in the educational experience with like minded people. OU's degrees (I have two BS degrees, Microbiology and Chemical Engineering) are serious achievements that take hard work and the effort pays off in career opportunities and self confidence. I am probably above average intelligence but had to work very hard with lots of study and long hours. Budget 1 to 2 hours of study time per 1 hour in class and there will be spikes that go well beyond this time investment, especially in the Junior and Senior level classes. Interestingly enough, I took a number of Graduate engineering classes and they were lower effort than my senior level classes.Be aware that a number of entry level classes in the science and engineering curreculums are really designed to cull down the numbers of students that move forward in the program. I took one entry level engineering class for example that started with 50 students and there were about 15 or 20 students left at the end of the class. You must survive these classes even if you think your head is going to blow up. |
