I transfered here during my second year and i regret it. people are not friendly and generally live in the suburbs. the teachers can either be incredibly pretentious or pretty helpful depending on you major. for instance, I had a poetry teacher who thought he was gods gift to man and loved to read his own work to the class. I felt like this was inappropriate. Some teachers are U of C professors, which sounds nice until you realize this is a side gig for them and they really don't care about the class. I found that a lot of my core science classes were filled with professors like this. Overall I would not recommend Depaul to anybody. the student body is the least diverse of any campus i have visited, even though they advertise themselves as having the most diverse student body in the country. People generally meet in the dorms freshmen year, but if you don't live in the dorms do not expect to make friends in class or anywhere else to that matter. most people i have spoken to that transferred to Depaul say that they had a hard time meeting friends and i would have to agree. If you are not entering Depaul as a freshmen definitely do not transfer there. If you are not a fan of frats and sororities do not go to Depaul. it is actually kind of sad, there are like six self proclaimed "frats" at Depaul but none of them have houses or are even sanctioned by fraternity chapters, they are pretty much made up. a lot of people from the suburbs that think they are getting a big city experience but they never leave the safety of lincoln park which is a suburb within a city. I could go on but I think I made my point. |
