The rates of graduation are low not because the school is terrible, but the course schedules and life happens - most of your peers you will find will be over the average college age, with full time jobs and kids of their own. I'm not saying you will not meet people here, you will, but don't expect a conventional college with young people. The technology aspect of the school is crying for help. The equipment is outdated for engineering technology and there really isn't any "cool" stuff you can do there. The reviewers are right, students are mostly passive, but not all students are that way. If you're serious about doing any tech stuff and can only afford a CUNY education, City College is a far better option. CUNY's use mostly adjuncts, some are good, some are terrible. This is really a mixed bag situation since some tenured professors at CityTech are borderline lazy and won't hesitate to insult if you ask what they consider a stupid question. I've had adjuncts who were interesting people with full time careers such as lawyers, engineers at the MTA, and even a full time econ professor at NYU. CityTech is a great place to be, if you need to take classes in the evening, it accommodates students who need to work or older students with other life responsibilities. As for the comments about passive students, ignore them, most of them flunk out and never return. |
