If you choose to attend here, I highly suggest that you do so for academic purposes and not for parties and a night life. The campus is in rural New Hampshire, surrounded by tiny towns, and is 30-45 minutes from the nearest "population center." Most of the campus social life is based around extra curricular activities and sports. Furthermore, the winters are really bad in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, so if constant snow storms aren't your thing, then FPU probably isn't your school. That aside, I think FPU is great. The rural setting, beautiful landscape (such as the second most climbed mountain in the world being visible from the center of the campus as well as the campus being built on a lake), and the local wildlife make for a calm and relaxing academic atmosphere. The professors are well educated and good at what they do, especially in the political science department (4 out of 5 of the most recent valedictorians were political science majors). There are amazing study abroad programs in Greece and Austria as well as a semester-long walk across Europe available to all students.Long story short, FPU is a great college to attend. Come looking for the academics, though, because the party life isn't here. |
