MY MAJOR

I signed up for film studies because they told me it was a major here…TOTAL LIE. I am technically a communication major, which I did not want to be. Total film classes offered in this school? Give or take, no more than ten. Total joke.

REGISTRATION

First of all, when I registered, I registered under the supervision of student volunteers who had no idea what kind of schedule I needed. I had transfer credits from college courses I took in high school, so I had met some of the requirements already. I signed up for two classes that I didn't need and no advisor caught the mistake. I needed to drop the two, but there wasn't anything I could replace them with. So I dropped only one because if I had dropped both, I would have been considered part-time and kicked out of the dorms. I had tried to contact my advisor to help me, but I soon found out we weren't assigned advisors until spring semester. So no help. Paying $13,500 for essentially two classes.

FINANCIAL ISSUES

This school is more concerned with your money than anything else. In the summer I was billed for one amount and a month before the semester was over, they billed me for another $2100. They said if not paid, I would not be able to to register for the following semester. My mom had to pay out of pocket because loan companies were not handing out anymore loans for the current semester. I asked where those charges had come from and they would not explain it to me. I looked at my bill and the amount was nowhere to be found. I did further research on my own and discovered they under billed me for $5200. I now have to find $3100 from somewhere for the following semester.

CLASSES

This school needs to offer more classes and more spaces. I know tons of majors who will not even get to take a major class because there isn't enough space. If they know there are x amount of majors, why not open that many sections and more? Oh, and when there are two-part classes, only one part is offered in a certain semester. Example: Spanish I, offered only in fall, Spanish II offered only in spring. It goes like that for most of the classes (language, history, science, etc.). The classes aren't all that interesting here either, very general.

DORMING

The dorms are decent, but over priced, chances are that you'll get put in a hotel anyway. Not enough dorms. Oh, and if you don't live in a hotel, you're only allowed to eat in the cafeteria offered in your building, unless you get signed in by someone at the other building- a hassle and a half.

STAFF

Staff likes to disappear whenever you need help with something, and when you do track them down, they're full of attitude. A lot of them don't even do the job they're supposed to do.

SOCIAL SCENE

People here are a little unapproachable. They don't really talk to you and it's very cliquey. It's like high school all over again, but we have more freedom.

CITY

Boston is a great city, but unfriendly to those under 21. Money fuels everything here, without money, tough luck doing something. Things to do? Shop, shop, shop, walk around, eat, and shop. There are concerts and theater shows too, but like I said, money fuels it all around here. NOTHING to do on campus.

OVERALL

This school is ridiculously overpriced. Students are generally miserable and we pay all this money to get nothing back in return. This school is probably best for students doing very general studies, even then, it's overpriced.
