The nature of the school is small town suburbia and mostly female school. Most are from VA and went home on weekends. When I happily left, there was still no diversity , no real vigor within the campus as a whole. The classes were definitely difficult and the school is gorgeous but the administration has so much red tape and I switched to a more fitting school for me. You join clubs and they would never socialize as a group on weekends. I found the general student body to be unapproachable , high school cliquey . While I understand if you are on a sports team you have a certain bond there but outside of athletics if you go to UMW accept that you will not have a social life at all no matter how hard you try. I can honestly say that I wasted half my college career at an all out terrible school that made me completely miserable. I don't miss the people, the area, the academics, nothing! The only niche one would fit there is VA resident, homebody, who probably has their nose in the air. Though I am supposed to graduate in May from another school , I am in retrospect, glad to be staying a bit longer because I lost 2 years of my life in "Fredvegas". Please, I urge prospective students and perhaps even current, to not attend UMW. |
