Before coming here I was afraid that it was going to be extremely challenging and I wouldn't be able to handle the course work. I was also afraid I wouldn't fit in or be able to afford the school. I found the absolute opposite to be true. While the work is challenging, it is not impossible and the professors really truly want you to succeed. I was in class of 70 (the biggest class size you will ever run into) and my teacher knew everyones name. If you had questions he was more than willing to help and would e-mail you back almost instantly. There are so many resources too. They have free math tutoring and a writing center to help you write and edit your papers. Not only are there resources academically, but there are resources for your career (practice interviews, resume workshops, etc.). There are so many things to take advantage of here. Free nutrition counseling, free health center, free gym, free yoga classes, free personal trainer, 24 hour library, free tutoring, etc. While some of the students can be stuck up and others can be sort of nerdy and keep to themselves, I found the overall population of the students to be extremely friendly. Everyone is very involved and and into community service and helping one another. I have yet to find a person to be condenscending towards me or anyone else. Even the atheltes are extremely friendly. Some of my really close friends are football players and they are among the nicest group of people I know there. Overall, the people are so nice. Constantly holding doors for you, etc. While at other schools you have to watch your laundry so it wont get stolen, one time at my school I left my clothes in the dryer and found that someone had taken them out and folded them. Where else would this happen? There is so much to do here too. At Villanova there are literally hundreds of clubs and things to join. Along with that, there are atheletic events and other things planned by the Campus Activies Team. Every weekend there are movies played for free and sometimes there are even other things to do in addition to that, such as free salsa lessons, trips to Six Flags, trips to the Jersey Shore, etc. Also, there are neighboring towns that have tons of shops and restraunts that take about ten minutes to walk to. There is a shuttle that runs to the King of Prussia Mall (2nd biggest mall in america) every weekend for free. And Philadelphia is only a $2 train ride away and takes about 15 minutse to get to. Plus the parties every weekend. I am literally never bored. The people who don't like it here are the ones who don't get involved. I had a friend who hated it here and did nothing about. When she finally started to find her niche she absolutely loved it. If you give it a chance you will love it. Guranteed. |
