But during my junior year, I was invited to come to a college weekend and I reluctantly went. I was surprised to find that ORU was a great school where everyone was welcoming and friendly. Academics are excellent here and the professors are truly brillant. A majority of the students are friendly but you'll run into some close-minded ones. In high school, I often felt scrutinized for being a Christian but felt accepted here. Though we don't "party" like other public colleges, we do find ways to have fun without going crazy. Student Association hosts many fun activities and there's a lot to do on and off campus. President Rutland has done an excellent job improving the school for the students and has made many improvements. I feel like the faculty really cares about the students and are compassionate and understanding. My only complaint is trying to find time to do "aerobic points". Though working out is good for you, I find it hard to make time to fill my aerobic point requirements each week since I have a busy schedule. Despite ORU's questionable reputation, I would recommend prospective students to check out ORU for yourself. Attending ORU College Weekend will most likely change any doubts you have about coming here. |
