I am a freshman that came to AIC from a small town in upstate New York.

I really love this school because I have learned to build a network with the people I communicate with. The second you walk onto campus you form a family- whether it be the residents on your dorm floor, people in the office you work in or fellow athletes on your sports team. I didn't want to go to a big school and drown out. At AIC, everybody gets to know you and cares about you- especially the professors. This was a huge factor for me choosing AIC to spend the next 4 years of my life.

Although, there are many people in the school who get accepted based on their athletic performance (like the majority of the football players) and do not do well academically. Because of this, many students at AIC flunk out and do not receive diplomas, making us look bad. Also, alot of those athletes do not appreciate the way AIC values education and therefore uses vulgar language, inappropriate actions and unkind remarks on a day to day basis. I just wish the admissions faculty would be more strict when picking student athletes- to bring their team a positive image scholarly and performance wise. The admissions advisors, coaches and students themselves should know that college isn't for everyone. Just because their a great sports player does not mean they should automatically be accepted to the school. We are called student athletes, student comes first.

Although these reasons make AIC look bad, there are a great number of things that make AIC great. Clubs, extra curricular activities and the actual education are all great examples.

Before deciding to attend, look at what is actually here. If there isn't a club on campus, you can make one. If you want to play sports but not be on a committed varsity team, there are inter-murals. There are a number of services for each student- no matter what your looking for. Don't be shy when asking any questions regarding activities or academics on campus- we know better than anyone what goes on and how it influences the students on campus. Be open-minded, curious and creative - but always remember: What you're going through many of us went through only 9 months ago (including myself). We're here to answer any questions you have about AIC and how it can transform your life.
