Valid Email Address Continued budget cuts means class sizes in excess of 60 or more including upper division classes. There also seems to be a problem with professor turn-over which is never a good sign. The class offerings regarding European Art History are limited at best with some never being offered at all...including the ones listed as required for the degree. Some History courses listed in the schedule such as History 315 for example, are supposed to be Romanov Russia but instead turn out to be Environmental History of Russia. Most course offerings in the History department are topics courses so if you're looking for straight up History, you should look elsewhere. Two years before transferring, I thought seriously about pursuing Medieval Studies especially upon hearing that UNM hired two new professors to head up this new department. Now that I'm here at UNM, it seems this team of professors have already left UNM. The same is true of the Art History department. Classes with a European Art content are few and far between because this department has also lost two professors. The only reason I am still here is because I have too many credits to transfer anywhere else and not enough upper level to graduate so I am stuck here for another year. Don't come here if you have the option to go somewhere else! |
