Disclaimer: By no means, do I intend to irrationally degrade or unreasonably praise this institution. I do hope members of the institution see this, so that it may make some improvements over time.

Key points to note in this review are comments about NCC's student body and career center.

In all honesty, I chose to attend this institution of higher education because of 2 reasons: 1) I was turned off by my 1st choice school—I was admitted to my 1st choice, but it had such a terrible student body…long story…yes, worse than this school; 2) FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIP! In my financial hardship, attending this school seemed better than attending community college, because I wouldn't have to worry about much gas expense. Also, more courses are transferrable from university-to-university than CC-to-university.

I'm majoring in design and communications, and the professors in my department couldn't be more helpful! Faculty in other departments were equally supportive, and I am pleased to say I have made lifetime contacts in them.

However, I was thoroughly disappointed in the student body and the relationships—rather, lack thereof—I attained. During campus tours and orientation, I was so sure I "hit it off" with certain individuals. They ended up giving me the cold should later. They were apparently "socially desperate at the time" and now didn't need my company.

Residence halls were supposed to provide a supportive group of students who would be going through the same experiences together. Reality: most students would gather in the housing (on- or off-campus where they could drink or do some hookah). If you don't do it, you don't get along. Also, it really is exaggeratedly cliquey EVERYWHERE!

My highschool was filled with overachievers, and the younger student body at this school (not non-traditional students as in older adults, etc) is filled with lazy bums (I'm not ratting on their drinking, just the general atmostphere).

Finally, the career center couldn't be less helpful. Instead of providing students with professional contacts, they ask you for them. While I am OK with that to a point, I would prefer to RECEIVE referrals than GIVE them with no opportunities in return. I'm thankful I have so many contacts remaining from my highschool of connected individuals. Meager and small as they are, it's better than the zero at this school.

Advice: Don't let yourself become socially deficient. If you're smart, don't let your grades slip by being in the company of underachievers. Find outside contacts for yourself.

If that means going to this school with your customized approach, by all means do it. The faculty is great, and you are sure to gain something!

If that means not going here at all and going in debt at a more expensive but better networked school, by all means do it.

Do what's right for you. This is simply my view.
