Being a full-time student, parent, and active duty military, it took me until August 2009 to complete my undergraduate degree. A month later, I started the Master of Arts in Homeland Security degree with a projected completion date of September 2010. I have nothing but great experiences with AMU; from individual students, professors, and faculty. Online education is not for everyone; you have to have personal responsibility for your own actions, read the student handbook, and understand your roles and responsibilities. For each class, read the syllabus from start to finish; each professor is different and teaching experiences vary from class to class; professor to professor. American Public University System is one of the few institutions that is both regionally and nationally accredited by federally recognized accrediting agencies - they are not a fly-by-night organization and are well respected in the military community and public safety community. I have been in contact with another school to complete a PhD program and they are well aware of AMU and honor their degree (as any brick and mortar school would). |
