I chose WVU. Not only because I got more money from WVU in addition to the state scholarship, but because growing up I knew it was where I belonged. I didn't even bother applying to another school. I can't say enough great things about WVU. The WV hospitality holds true here, while losing some of that "Southern mentality" that runs rampant where I grew up. Some students are close-minded, but for the most part the city's residents, University faculty, and students are very laissez-faire. The education is fair; the lower level classes are quite easy, but once you get into your major classes (at least for me, MIS, a very small program) be prepared to work hard - a lot of times in groups. My professors were great and very informal; we could grab a beer and talk about school things.I don't want to ramble too much, so I will end with this: WVU is a wonderful place in a beautiful area. Sure, everything has its ups and downs, but overall you can't go wrong. WVU is 1 hour from Pittsburgh, 3 hours from DC, Columbus, and Cleveland, so there's always plenty to do. I love it here so much that after graduation, this is where I decided to call home. I found a great, high-paying job and have bought a house at age 22. WVU and Morgantown open doors to the world, or locally if you prefer. |
