I'd like to preface this critique by saying I was not kicked out - I left after going to this institution for two years. I was involved - joined a greek, I was even on the Women's soccer team. If you are the type to not ever think outside the box, then this is the school for you. There is no room for questioning anything - religion, rules, etc. Sadly, in the major I had choosen - pre-law, there was an extreme lack of education on the part of the faculty. Partridge seemed to be the only educated individual on staff. I would go to another professor's class - never bought a book, never studied, and bullshitted all the exams and got an "A". If you ever want to go to law school or even get a higher degree, this is not the place for you. I am a woman. I have a figure. At CCC, they want you to wear baggy clothes so the men won't know you have a figure. I can't even tell you how many times I was "written up" for "low cut shirts", "skirts too short", "shirts too tight", etc. I think you get the picture. You need to be someone from 18 Kids and Counting to go here. As for dating, the rules suck. They really do. They don't give couples any room to explore what a healthy relationship should be. However, during my days there, I was able to sneak off campus and go to my boyfriend's apartment many times. If you are used to a normal life - what college should be - drinking, hanging out with both sexes, staying out past midnight and being treated as an adult - one word of advice - find a small group of friends and do what you want out of sight. I never got caught and the last semester was the best semester I ever had there. There are some great people - I left and remain friends with a number of girls and guys. |
