If you plan to have the "city" mentality, this is not the school for you. These are country people. The education staff are friendly, and try to assist you. Some teachers want you to share their bias, so keep your opinion to yourself until you no longer need to take that professor. The dorms are nice to live in until immature students cause destruction. Students complain about the cost of going to college…keep your costs low by treating the campus with respect. There are designated areas for smoking because the college wants to be smoke free. The workload is not bad as long as you pay attention. Campus safety and Resident Life do not see eye to eye and passively and constantly bicker over rules. They are both supposed to be there for the benefit of the students. Do not plan for the college to do anything about the hypocracy of rules. They are there to make money and there will always be a power struggle, which makes the college look bad. When it comes to financing or something you need to speak to a professor about, send emails as backup. Make sure all your paperwork is in order all the time because paperwork is lost more often than none. If you need assistance with a stress or psychological issue, there are wonderful counselors there. Parking is at a premium. Get there early. If you plan on working for the college, ask other students who have worked there to determine if that department is right for you. Working for the college and being a student do not always jive. The college is a nice place to be if you do what you are supposed to do. |
