I just finished my second year at APU. Overall it was a good experience. The one unique thing about APU is the community. The school is very intentional about fostering a home away from home feel. The student body is very warm and friendly, but sometimes they seem very sheltered. Most student are from upper-middle class family and have gone to private school their entire lives. However, I have met some of the coolest, smartest, down to earth people at APU. Every school is going to have arrogant and close minded students, but i dont think it truly reflect the student body of APU. I feel as most student are just ignorant to certain things and are willing to learn if given the chance. Like i said, most of the student have been born and raised christian and this is all they ever know, so be ready for that.

As for the education, there is a heavy emphasis on the bible. You are mandated to take 5 bible classes order to graduate. Those classes are either hit or miss. You can choose to take easy prof to breeze right through them, or actually challenge yourself and you will learn things that will rock you view about God, yourself, and your faith. Its really up to you.

The psych program is alright. Most student are just average intelligent wise. The class are small (generally ranging from 20-50). They are taught by prof who genuinely care about the well being of their student, which makes it easy to get plugged into a research team. They are easily accessible and some even give their cell phone numbers to student.

Social wise, it what you make out of it. Azusa is a small city so there's not much to do. You def need to have a car to go to LA or the beach which is about 40 min away. The school does throw random events, and they are okay. Generally, most student find way to have "clean" fun. The drinking and party scene is very underground. And no Greek system. So if you are looking to party, you REALLY should consider other schools.

Oh yeah, there's chapel 3 times a week. Freshmen year it was okay, now im just getting sick of it. You get 10 misses a semester though.

Overall, APU is a good school, though it has a heavy price tag (about 35k) But, i feel that APU is doing a great job molding and mentoring student grow in their walks with God and prepping them to be a Christian in the workfield. Though I feel that i could get a better education elsewhere, I know i am spiritually growing in ways that i could never in a UC or Cal State. So consider your options and decide which path you want to walk toward. Know that APU stands pretty firm on its motto about putting "God First"
