I originally enrolled in the nursing program, but absolutely hated the hoops I had to jump through just to wait a whole YEAR to get into it. I then switched my major so I have taken quite a few classes.

Pros:

  • The campus security offers things like safety walk, they patrol the parking lot at all hours, and will sit outside classes if you feel unsafe for whatever reason. According to staff, every guard was a cop at some point.
  • Despite the geese during the summer and a few minor maintenance problems (excluding the parking lot), the campus is fairly clean.
  • The professors really know their stuff. You will leave each class and actually remember what you learned. The information you're taught is actually relevant!
  • The books you can order from the school's online bookstore arrive extremely fast. I have never had to wait a full week for the books to reach my door.
  • The students are very friendly and can sometimes be a bigger help than the staff. Unless you are a shy person, you should have no problem buddying up to at least one student per class.
  • Cons:

  • The "career counselors" are HORRIBLE! Each one will give you different information about what you need to do for your major. Some will even advise you to take courses you don't even need!
  • Few professors are pleasant and most are extremely rude. A couple I have taken were condescending. One actually laughed at the class because we were confused. Another one told the class that I was a whiner because I was upset about a MAJOR mess up on his part. The stories can go on and on.
  • The scheduling for your basic courses aren't so bad, but once you get deeper into your major it can get ridiculous. Some classes are close to 5 HOURS long and meet Monday - Thursday, effectively cutting your days right in half. Some semesters you will actually have to make the decision work or school.
  • The parking lot is terrible! I have heard horror stories from people that claimed the torn up lots ruined their car. Fortunately, as of 2009, Henry Ford started a major project to completely repave the parking lots.
