DO NOT ATTEND! If I could choose a college all over again, I would not even apply to American University. The professors are unhelpful, arrogant, and self-absorbed. The administration is cheap and will do anything to save money. They have recently combined the registrar's office and 2 other offices to create "AU Central", which is an excuse to spend less money.

The worst part of AU is that when I was accepted, I received a $12,000/year grant. As soon as I accepted, the financial aid office came up with some stupid excuse to take away ALL of my scholarship. I am not the only one that this has happened to. I know at least 2 others who went through the same thing!

I am a music major and the music departmant is just as unless as the rest of the school. They try to make it seem like their faculty is superior, but in truth, they are musicians more concerned with promoting themselves than teaching their students.
