I thrived at Ship due to small class sizes, easy access to professors, because I found a group of students to study with. I took advantage of the unique opportunity to do my own research. I wrote a small grant proposal and won. I did two years of biology research with knowledgeable and friendly professors. These guys became lifelong mentors and friends. I was accepted to every graduate school I applied to, based largely on my research experience. Saying that you graduated from Shippensburg won't automatically open doors the way being a Penn State grad will. But the opportunities and quality of education you can get at Ship will make you marketable if you take advantage. I lived off campus and rarely partied. Alcohol is new and exciting for most college students. Learning to drink responsibly will make you happier in school and after. |
