When I first attended JCC in 2007, I was very optimistic about furthering my education. But as the years went by, I have become less and less enthused about learning. I chose JCC because of very tight financial situations and because I was uncertain what career field I wanted to venture in to. I have only had 2 teachers in my whole study that have been very upbeat and willing to help their students in any way. To them, I have thanked them on many occasions. Without those 2 teachers, I would have dropped out.

JCC does not care about their students, all they care about is money money money. The Financial Aid department is almost near impossible to get in contact with. And whenever you DO get in contact with someone, they make it seem like you are a nuisance in their day; very snotty and extremely rude. I have raised concerns to one of the Dean's and I have never received a reply back, nor has any noticeable changes occurred.

When I went to my counselor to get career counseling, she could not help me. In fact, she stated that my "degree was useless". What a wonderful thing to hear when you've just invested $12,000 on some "useless" piece of paper. She could not help me figure out what the next step to further my education was…how to get a degree that was USEFUL. And I reiterate, they do NOT care about their students!

I was supposed to graduate May 2010. I sent in my application for graduation and received many letters back saying that I was approved for graduation, where to get my cap and gown, etc. I did not attend the graduation ceremony due to personal reasons. Two weeks AFTER the graduation occurred, I had gotten a letter in the mail stating that I was NOT approved for graduation, that I was 2 credit hours short. I even went to my counselor about a week before I applied for graduation to make sure that I DID have 60 credit hours in order to graduate. She told me I did. That semester, I passed ALL of my classes with A's. But yet I was still lead to believe that I was approved for graduation. I had moved to Ohio and ended up having to move back in order to finish this last semester.

I wish I could have looked past the cost of tuition and gone to a better school, even if it was just to get my general education courses out of the way.

A word to the wise…DO NOT ATTEND JEFFERSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN KENTUCKY!!! They will rob you from an education and rob you of your money!!
