However, after a student is enrolled and Ursinus receives their check that student becomes just a number and a source for another check. The administration does not care about the wants and needs of current students and will do anything they can get away with in order to squeeze the most money out of their student body. The courses that are listed in the academic handbook are not reflective of what is truly offered here at school. Being a senior at this school and going through four years of battling with the class registration process has opened my eyes to how poorly Ursinus attempts to provide a student with a schedule that will allow them to graduate on time. On more than one occasion I have been told by our registration office that because all the necessary classes I need to take are full it is possible that I will have to come back for a fifth year. I want to emphasize the fact that I am on a normal track; meaning that I have not dropped classes, failed any classes or changed majors and I am still having this much trouble with the classes "offered." As a side note, the food here is abysmal and the administration here refuses to hear a single student complaint, of which there are many. When attempting to eat on campus Ursinus offers dinner only from 4:30 to 6:00 and if you miss it you have to use your meal in the lower cafeteria, where 1 meal credit does not cover enough for any type of selection. If you do decide to enroll here be prepared to have to pay every fee imaginable; for example all upperclassmen are allowed to move into dorms the Sunday before classes start and if a student wants to move in early, even one day early, it will cost them $100 a night. Also, be prepared to be hounded by Ursinus for donations to the school, even as an enrolled student who is barely able to scrape together the money needed for tuition. I want to reiterate the fact that Ursinus is great at recruiting new students but falls short on all of its promises. When I was a prospective student I heard statements similar to this but I wrote them off because of all the great things I heard about Ursinus. This school has earning money at the top of its agenda and students education and satisfaction takes a backseat to that task. So, please do not write this off as a disgruntled student, as I did when I saw testimonies such as this, and understand that the true Ursinus will be unconcerned with the education of its students, as long as the money continues to come in. Everything at Ursinus from its shameless attempt to extract as much money as possible from students to its flagrant disregard for the student?s academic wellbeing should cause any prospective student to run as far as possible from this school. |
