I came in as a transfer this year, i live in the edge part of UP3 the housing and its incredible. Most sophomores do not get there own bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closet or porch. In addition there's a a washer, dryer and dishwasher in every room. The people are incredible, no matter where you go, you're going to come across assholes and just as you do in any situation, you ignore them. College is what you make of it, i think the people who are disappointed with their time at coastal came to college to expecting thing's magically to happen to them. life doesn't work that way. I couldnt be happier at coastal, there's a pool ten feet away from my room, the beach is a short drive away and the parties are awesome. the local bars throw special events (like last night the "white trash bash" with ky jelly wrestling) and there's a party behind the goodyear garage on 544 every once in a while that has made it on MTV and for good reason it's EPIC( picture the majority of your school on a field, drunk with a band playing at one end with a mosh pit and dance music in the garage) , broadway is only a cab ride away and for the more hip crowd restaurant row in north myrtle is a lot of fun. being from NJ you can't go to bars til you're 21, here it's 18 and up so that's a lot of fun. the course work is challenging if you choose the right professors and classes. the school is in the middle of building a new rec center which is exciting. They're also in the process of building up the school, which is good for someone like me who messed up in hs and couldn't get into a huge school but in the future when applying for jobs coastal will be recognized as a big school. It's a D1 school, our football team isn't great but the games are still fun. The basketball team is awesome, the gyms a little small but like i said before they're in the process of building a new one so by next fall that will no longer be an issue. My only complaint is parking but that's def not an issue compared to all the great things coastal has to offer. GO CHANTS |
