The only thing my time at Kent taught me was how to cope with frustration and with special education profs who didn't have all that much in-front-of-the-classroom experience to begin with (5 years or less! After 5 years u've just had a chance to sit on all the school committees), who got out of the classroom because they weren't good at it and didn't like it, and who hadn't been in charge of a classroom of children for years. The push at the college is to publish and get grants, not actually be good at the real skills of the profession…
