So UVa-Wise is located in Wise, Virginia.. where the heck is that? Wise, Va is in the south-west part of Virginia. about 12 miles from KY.

If you are not familiar with the area, it will be quite an adventure. First of all, the college is located in the boonies. Meaning its some-what isolated and surrounded by trees. It doesn't have its own separate entrance. You just make a left into the campus. The sign is crap, you couldn't tell if it was a college or just a big high school.

The funnest thing in Wise is probably the bowling alley and movie theater. No bars, no clubs. You're best bet is joining a greek house or finding off-campus parties. So all in all, there is no social life, night life, or part life.

The science department is tough. I've heard UVa-Wise's science is well known.

There are more residential halls than actual class halls. There are 3 halls for classes. This school is tiny. There is some construction going on, so that will add one more hall.

Also, there is a hill. Well known as suicide hill. The staff have very thoughtfully put stairs there. If you're out of shape, this hill is going to be the death of you.

You can always sprint to the student center, take the elevator (which is usually broken) to the top to skip the stairs.

The food is okay on a good day. It's maybe one step above high school cafeteria food. There is only one cafeteria, a small sandwich place in the student center and a coffee shop in the library. Your best bet is Mcdonalds, or the taco bell that is 10miles away.

Another thing, BRING A CAR! you will not survive without one. you can't bum a ride from other people everyday. there are no shuttles that will take you anywhere. the mall is an hour and a half a way in tennessee. the only clothing stores in the area are Walmart Rue 21 and Maurices. so in other words, bring all your clothes. this school is small, so u will get more attention from ur professor. but i assume u can make your own choice after what I've mentioned.
