At first glance, this place seems to gleam, but once you get into the mix you are bound to quickly realize the hooey that you were sold during one of their overly-emphasized tours. Two particular areas of this university that I caution you about are Judicial Affairs and Housing/RES. I have so many horror stories that I could tell you about both! In Judicial Affairs, there are individuals who seem to think it is alright to not be impartial- and higher university administration backs this up. This is a place where they prefer students who they can hold a thumb over- not students who will speak up with they think something is going wrong and needs to be addressed or corrected. No university is ever going to be always perfect, but this particular university has developed some major problems with how it is run since I first started here as a freshman. In all honesty, they have driven to the point of wanting to transfer for my LAST semester of undergraduate study. I suppose if you live locally and plan to commute, and plan on not getting too involved then you would do alright. Honestly, that being said, there are some really brilliant, friendly, caring professors at Concordia, Irvine, but for me (at least), that is not a final-decision-making point. Good luck! |
