I was excited about getting into CSULB -- with budget cutbacks, it is now more selective than Harvard. However, I was very disappointed. California has run out of money and the quality of education here is severely affected by this. Classrooms are overcrowded and it is very difficult to get classes. Counselors are scarce and are often not well-informed about requirements. Many majors are not available because they are "impacted." It is no longer possible to graduate in four ... or even five years. Professors are demoralized and frequently cancel class. The classes are not challenging, but there is a lot of busy work. I have transferred to a university with better academics and fewer problems. Even at in-state rates, this school is not a good value.
