WSU is a hit and miss school. You may love it. If you like doing the same things every day and drinking yourself into a coma every weekend, this school is for you. If you want an academic school where you can do new things and meet unique people to forge lifelong friendships with, you might be out of luck.

Pullman is a drab and depressing town, and there is literally nothing to do. Moscow is like New York in comparison. The campus is the town for students. People here seem all the same, all wearing the same WSU hoodies, doing the same things ever day, etc. It's very hard to find an intelligent, unique, and motivated person. I forged many strong friendships in high school, but I can't find anyone similar who goes here.

The academics are actually fairly good in most fields - definitely better than UW from what I have heard of their academics. The information they teach here is more meaningful, though there are still classes which are a load of BS. Stay away from pre-calculus. The department is suffering from budget cuts, the the students they employ as teachers are awful. Innumerable amounts of people fail this class because of how poorly it is run, and the faculty are no help whatsoever. It's better in other subjects.

The music program here is supposed to be great, but my high school was far superior. Marching band is cool though.

The dorm life is rather depressing. There is only one new building. The roommate matching is very hit and miss - sometimes you make a great friend, sometime you have barely anything in common. Campus food is okay, but it gets old fast. I have probably put on some weight, which I could work off, except the rec center is so far away I often don't have time in my day to walk all the way over there. Weather around here is also depressing, and the bitter cold and constant snow-followed-by-rain process is incredibly annoying.

You will like this college if you are just one of the crowd. If you like getting drunk out of your mind and going to pointless parties, and if you enjoy doing the exact same things day after day. If you want a unique experience and interesting people, don't like the party atmosphere, you should look elsewhere.
