Marymount is one of the absolute friendliest places I have ever been. It feels like you're in a small town where everyone knows each other, not right outside of DC. Everyone says hi to each other and wants to know how you're doing. The professors are all really involved, not only in your academic success, but also in how you're doing personally. The professors are pretty much always available. Almost all of my professors have given out their cell phone numbers with the syllabus. They work really hard to help you succeed. They really want the students to succeed. The courses aren't easy, but, honestly, would you want the courses to be easy? I know that I am getting a quality education. I really enjoy the positive environment, and how involved the professors are. All my professors know my name and I feel completely comfortable going to them with any problems that I'm having. Marymount is also working really hard on improving the campus. They just finished a new dorm and a new academic building. The new residence hall is apartments and it's really nice. It's a great step up from living with a bunch of other girls. I get to live with some of my best friends, we have 2 bathrooms and a kitchen and a living room. It's great. We even have what are basically our own rooms. The new academic building is for the School of Health Professions (the nursing and PT department) and the science department. It's BEAUTIFUL! There are a ton of labs for nursing and science that are enormous and more specialized. There's even a simulation lab for nursing that has 3 different Sim Man dummies (that are like real people, you can even do CPR on them) and it will record what you're doing so you can go back and watch what you do well and what you need to work on. There are a ton of new study spaces there and there's also this great new cafe in Caruthers (the new building). It has a lot more options and some nice, flavorful, fresh options. They also have these delicious pastries and sweets. They also added a new parking garage underneath the residence hall and there is a ton more parking now. There are also a lot of things to do on campus. There are movies twice a week, they bring in comedians, musicians, spoken word artists, all sorts of different things to keep us busy. If you don't feel like doing any of those things or don't want to join one of the million clubs, you can just hop on the metro and be in DC in 20 minutes. We're really close to DC and a whole bunch of other universities so you can meet a lot of different people and have a lot of opportunities to meet people, no matter what your personality is.

I really love Marymount. I feel like it is the perfect school for me. But it isn't right for everyone. You have to want a small school to come here. You can't come here expecting to go out and party every night and have huge classes where the professor doesn't care if you come or not. We actually have a real community at Marymount and you have to want that to come here. If you want huge classes taught by grad students and frat parties, go to some big state school. But if you're looking for a great education with and awesome location and awesome people, Marymount is the place for you.
