I am amazed at the bad reviews I have read on here. I have been to several different small and large universities in several different states, so this is not my only collegiate experience. I have found OLOLC to be exemlary in many ways. I have come from large schools where the professors are completely absorbed in research and the students and quality of education are a complete afterthought. Here, most of the faculty is extremely qualified and go to great pains to not only teach you content but application, as well as teaching you how to integrate that knowledge holistically into your chosen academic field. The professors I have had, on the whole (there are always one or two who need improvement), have been very effective in teaching the material. They are readily available for help or to answer questions or amplify explanations. However, that being said, the coursework is very demanding. This is definitely not a school for the casual student looking for a great social life and a good time. I have been to those. This school caters to serious minded students who are there to learn as much as possible and to become proficient beyond expectation in their areas of concentration. Many professors fashion their tests after board exams so the testing format can be quite difficult, but will pay off in the long run. There is always a tremendous amount of info to learn and often much of it does not make it on the test, but this is also true of board and certification exams. OLOLC is a school that prepares medical professionals, "just getting by" is just not good enough. Would you want your mother to be in the hospital and have a nurse or P.A. who just got by with a "C"? Really, now. The bar is high, expect to work very hard, learn alot, and become very good at what you want to do. They will help you every way they can, but the answer is not to lower the bar to where everyone can pass. Seen "Idiocracy"? That being said, I have maintained a 4.0 with large course loads, but you will work for it. I have not had the courses before, either. They are not designed to fail you, just see if you know it. I would definitely recommend it if you are serious about your profession.
