It doesn't feel like you're "away at school", it actually feels like you're at home. There are so many opportunities to get involved here. People joke around, saying you actually have to TRY to NOT get involved in the Chico State community, which is extremely true. The campus is absolutely beautiful, bridges, the creek, trees, and flowers galore. The buildings are beautiful as well, brick and stone are abound. If your GPA is high enough I would highly recommend applying for the Honors Program. You get smaller class sizes and priority registration. If you're worried about the classes being more difficult, don't be. They're not any harder, they just eliminate any possible busy work. As for the halls, some buildings have smaller rooms (Whitney,Shasta, Lassen) and some have much larger (Konkow, Mechoopda, Esken, Sutter…others are a little farther away (UV). I would strongly suggest viewing the halls before you make your decision..but Konkow is for sure the best.Last semester we had "Shitney" Dining, but since the school has opened up a new dining facility, Sutter. They get a little "creative" sometimes, but for the most part it's pretty okay. The building is really nice as well..so even if you don't like the food, you can still enjoy the scenery!THIS IS NOT A PARTY SCHOOL. People have this misconception about Chico. Sure people party…but no more than at any other college campus. I have friends at Brown who party WAY harder than anyone here in Chico. If you don't drink its NO PROBLEM. No one is going to force you to drink or do drugs. Theres usually a party or two going on on the weekends and if you want to go and dance you can. All in all, if you don't want to come to Chico..DON'T. It's a home, it's a community, and when people who don't want to be here end up coming here they just ruin the vibe. If you're not open to the Chico experience you're just going to have a miserable time. |
